For those of you that haven’t shared in this special piece of Hollywood, you’re in for a treat. This film hasn’t only been re-released on special edition videodisc (with features that are something to truly marvel at) but features among the largest casts of greats that I do not think accepts always been agreed. This 1962 classic bids some history-based events (admitting paratroopers being massacred by Nazis as they enter into a dropping zone) that truly stoke the fire as vengeance. Fear not, folks. The Longest Day allows you on vengeance and so some. The filming is truly by a completely another age, and if you’re attending see Nazis get owned, why not see it otherwise than you’re wont to? The center Hitler virtually sleeping while the walls were boiling down around his authorities is truly something to behold. It was another kind of film making, without doubt, and provides us our initial entry of Nazis being owned up!

Just over a month ago we talked about the future of the Blade franchise and at the time, it seemed that Stephen Dorff may help guide the series in a different direction with a trilogy of new movies set before the events of the first Blade. It naturally would star Dorff as the bad-ass vampire, Deacon Frost. Read the rest of this entry »
Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that the ever-charming ironman himself, Robert Downey Jr., is in “close talks” to play the vampire Lestat in a “resume” of The Vampire Chronicles, a series of novels by author Anne Rice first written in the ’70s. It (mostly) tells the tale of a French nobleman, Lestat de Lioncourt, who gets turned into a vampire in the 18th century.

At the beginning of the yr, it was announced that Brett Ratner aspiring directing yet a different comic book movie, Youngblood. Naturally this wasn’t met with positive reaction, but as then, the only other major update we’d was that the screenwriters were half-way through finishing their first draft of the script.
The few contingents we did find affected some of the characters we may see, one that we would not see, and the unique fact show elements would stylize the cinema – The Youngblood team are celebs who work for the authorities, after all.

| Two film directing projects on the horizon for McG (Terminator Salvation) is the Disney remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and the fifth installment in the Terminator franchise, currently being referred to as simply Terminator 5. It appears that McG’s focus is currently on 20,000 Leagues, with T5 to follow after that. Thanks to IESB and Collider, we have an update on both high-profile projects. | |
| 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea McG’s film appears to be both a remake of the Richard Fleischer film from 1954 that starred Kirk Douglas and James Mason, as well as a new kind of adaptation of the 1870 novel by Jules Verne. McG has talked about the aim to for his version: “It’s a bit of a departure from the Fleischer movie, and much more in keeping with the spirit of the novel, as far as what Aronnax is up to, and the becoming of Nemo, and how the man became at war with war itself. So there’s a little bit more meat on the bone in regard to the genesis of the Nemo character than you’re given in the ’50s movie that Disney made. And also, it’s a little more contemporary.” “I love that [original] movie, but there were two female characters, and they were both prostitutes. And, there were a couple of black people in the film, and they were all electrocuted. So, nowadays, I think we need to progress a little bit beyond that.” The movie appears to be quite far along in the development stages, since McG reveals they’ve been scouting various shooting locations around the world from France, Japan and England, to Canada, Australia and Hawaii (the latter for some sort of “little volcano work”). McG has revealed he is aiming for it to be an action-packed film, trying to capture the spirit of the adventure from the original story. | Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines More than 10 years after ‘Terminator 2′, John Connor now exists only as a drifter – living ‘off the grid’, so no more Terminators from the future can hunt him down. Unfortunately, SkyNet does send another one back – and this one is called the T-X, even more powerful & advanced than the … The Terminator A cyborg is sent from the future on a deadly mission. | Terminator 5 Although McG says his focus is very much on 20,000 Leagues at the moment, he reveals that he’s also prepping Terminator 5. With such a complex world to manage in the Terminator franchise, I’d say McG is wise to at least have the next installment in mind, even if it’s still a ways off. McG talked about his intention for the Terminator franchise, speaking about whether or not he wants to take a break from it or dive back in, as Michael Bay did with Transformers 2. He says he’s excited about the next part of the series’ story, and talks about a possible angle for it that could see it getting, “out of the apocalyptic world and into the contemporary world.”One great thing to hear is that McG is listening to what fans have been saying (good and bad) about Terminator Salvation, and reassures us he takes it on board. He admits that when people don’t like something you’ve done, all you can do is look at what you did wrong (and, indeed, what you did right) and try and evolve as a storyteller. Although I don’t think McG should allow fans to completely shape his vision for the next Terminator, he should pay at least some attention to those who ultimately buy the tickets to see the movies. I’m very interested to see how 20,000 Leagues will turn out, specifically with McG at the helm. He’s not the director I would have personally picked, nor did I see coming the news about him being chosen for it, but nonetheless it’s an interesting choice. The part about the next Terminator possibly going from the, “apocalyptic world into the contemporary world,” was first hinted at a few months ago when McG brought up the time travel angle again. An industry source then said that T5 would see the franchise (specifically John Connor) transported back in time to London, England. That, combined with what McG has said above, could mean that rumor could very well turn out to be true. If this was the case, it would take the franchise away from the future war between man and machine that we’d heard about for the first three movies, and back to the old (no pun) travel-back-in-time formula. Haven’t we been there and done that? Isn’t three movies of that enough? As much as Salvation had problems, one of the aspects I loved was finally getting to see the future war. I just don’t know if it’s right to revert back to the old ways of the franchise. What do you think about what McG has said: Do you like the direction he’s going with 20,000 Leagues? How about the direction he’s thinking about going with T5? 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is currently in the development stages and doesn’t have a release date yet. Terminator 5 is in the prep stage and also doesn’t have a release date. source |

| Warner Bros get jiggy with their release dates; Paul W.S. Anderson is The Warded Man; Schwentke sees Red with Willis and Freeman; Will Spielberg helm Helm? Russell Crowe and Paul Haggis are busy for The Next Three Days and Matthew McConaughey and Eva Mendes are Southbound. | |
| 1. Warner Bros seem to be conducting a merry dance of release date shuffles. The water tower studio has changed the release dates of three high profile films.
A Nightmare on Elm Street has been pushed back two weeks from April 16, 2010 to April 30th. Meanwhile the Josh Broli n/ Megan Fox comic book western Jonah Hex has been moved forward from August 30 to June 18 2010. This switch to a prime mid-summer slot gives the indication that Warner Bros have a lot of confidence in the film, as late August is often seen as a movie dumping ground. John Cusack’s The Factory will now open in on January 28, 2011 – three years after it started shooting! That is not a good sign. |
The Devil’s Tomb
The Devil’s Tomb was pretty entertaining and well made The most anticipated game coming to theaters. |
| The very busy Paul W.S. Anderson and his producing partner Jeremy Bolt have bought the rights to Peter V. Brett’s The Warded Man.
According to the Hollywood Reporter: The book is the first in The Demon Cycle trilogy. Anderson and Bolt hope that the book and film will become the new Lord of The Rings. I thought that The Hobbit was the new Lord of the Rings. Oh well… Anderson is attached to direct the film, which I assume will start shooting next year at the earliest, as Anderson will be busy calling the shots on Resident Evil 4. Source: The Hollywood Reporter 3. Robert Schwentke the director of the forthcoming The Time Traveler’s Wife (featuring onetime Hulk Eric Bana) is in negotiations to direct Red, the film adaptation of the WildStorm/DC comic. “The spy film follows a former black-ops agent forced out of retirement when a high-tech assassin threatens him and his girlfriend.” The film is set to star Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman. Who knew that Freeman was such a comic fan? In the last few years he has starred in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Wanted. Willis too seems to be getting in on the comic action with Sin City and the soon-to-be-released Surrogates and now Red. Source: The Hollywood Reporter 4. Steven Spielberg is rumored to be interested in directing a new film version of Matt Helm, the old franchise that starred Dean Martin in the 1960’s and which was a pastiche of the Connery-era James Bond films. The film has been in development for several years but apparently Spielberg’s interested in a new rewrite by Paul Attanasio (Donnie Brasko) which is supposed to be more in the vein of the new Bond and Jason Bourne films. Matt Helm was originally developed by Dreamworks when they had the short-lived marriage with Paramount Pictures, but after a messy divorce, Paramount received sole custody of the project. Paramount has been cost-cutting lately and Spielberg’s attachment means a big payday and the studio is wary of spending big bucks on hiring the über-expensive director. The last time Spielberg tried to make a Bond-esque action film he ended up with the Indiana Jones trilogy, so it would appear that it’s a pretty sound financial choice for the studio, who hope that Matt Helm will be a franchise starter. The studio (and producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci) will have a choice of 27 Matt Helm novels to choose from for a script. The books were written by the prolific Donald Hamilton. More on Matt Helm when we get it. Source: Variety 5. Russell Crowe will star in Paul Haggis’s next feature. The Gladiator star will topline The Next Three Days, a remake of the French thriller Pour Elles (the English title being Anything For Her). “Crowe will play a teacher whose wife is arrested and convicted of a murder she says she did not commit. He comes up with a desperate plan to free her.” The film starts shooting in September once Crowe has completed work on Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood. Source: Variety 6. Matthew McConaughey and Eva Mendes are in talks to star in Southbound. “McConaughey plays a patrol officer on the border between California and Mexico who accepts a bribe from a beautiful Mexican woman, putting his family in danger and landing him in the middle of a war between the Mexican crime families and the U.S. immigration police.” It’s good to see that the bongo-playing star is taking time-out from making romantic comedies to stretch his acting muscles. |
